2009 President's Letters

May 12, 2009

Archbishop Timothy M Dolan
New York Archdiocesan Chancery
1011 First Ave
New York NY 10022

Your Excellency,

As National President of the largest Irish American Catholic Organization in the United States I would like to congratulate you on being appointed Archbishop of New York.

We in the Ancient Order of Hibernians know firsthand about the great St Patrick’s Cathedral. Our organization has protected it on numerous occasions.

Although it is only a few short years ago since we had to last protect it, we believe that, judging from your success in past positions, we will not be needed anytime soon.

We know your stand on abortion, as you revealed so eloquently in your homily, “To embrace and protect the dignity of every human person, the sanctity of human life, from the tiny baby in the womb to the last moment of natural passing into eternal life.”

We know you will continue to defend marriage as it was intended to be and fight for all the other issues which the AOH and the Catholic Church hold sacred.

We are privileged to have you as our leader in the second largest Archdiocese in the country. To have 11 Cardinals and so many dignitaries present for you inauguration is a testament to your qualifications and the love that people have for you. We wish you well, and we will pray for you and the Church as you assume your duties in New York.

Fraternally, in Friendship, Unity and true Christian Charity
